Why the Octagon shape? Traditional flow offset smokers are typically made using round steel pipes because air, heat, and smoke flow freely from the offset wood-burning firebox, circulating through the cook chamber and out of the smokestack. This simple process, when guided correctly through the design and engineering stage, is what cooks and provides the food with that great smoky flavor that we've all learned to love so much.
At Easy Flow Smokers, we love the smoky flavor so much that we decided to kick it up a notch and go with the octagonal shape—not only for the one-of-a-kind looks but also for its geometrical contribution to adding a deeper, more smoky flavor to the food.
In a regular round pipe, smoke will just rapidly circulate through, and as fast as it comes in, it also goes out. In our octagonal bodies, the flow of air, heat, and smoke lingers a bit longer before making its way out due to bouncing around off the eight sides instead of just free-flowing right through.
Another functional part of the look to take into consideration is the diamond plate that we use. The extra sporadic thickness also helps retain more heat for a longer period, and it is because of these features that we feel so confident that you, too, will fall in love with our one-of-a-kind artistic offset smokers.
